The ICALEO 2009 Congress Proceedings includes all submitted papers for three conferences on Laser Materials Processing, Laser Microprocessing, and Nanomanufacturing. The Laser Materials Processing Conference covers a number of highlight sessions such as Direct Metal Deposition Process, Unique Plastic Processing, Optics for Laser Material Processing, Hybrid Welding, Welding by High Brightness Lasers, and Welding for Automotive and Aerospace Industries. The CD also includes a special session organized to recognize the lifetime achievements by Prof. William M. Steen. The Laser Microprocessing Conference on the CD addresses special interests in processes and systems for microscopic applications, including highlight sessions such as Laser Micro-Drilling and Dicing, Laser Bio-medical Applications, Laser-assisted Micro-deposition, Ultrafast Laser Processing, and Laser-induced Ablation and Breakdown. A joint session will be organized, with the Laser Materials Processing Conference, to address the issues in laser micromachining.

For the third-time in as many years, the newest conference to the ICALEO family, Nanomanufacturing covers topics on new opportunities of laser applications that require multi-disciplinary knowledge bases. The CD includes presentations on optical and laser-related nanotechnologies for nanomanufacturing and their scale-up for mass production. This conference sessions highlight research in emerging nanomanufacturing technologies in laser nanopatterning, nanoparticle generation, pulsed laser deposition and sintering, micro/nano-machining, multi-photon polymerization, laser-assisted characterization and scanning probe lithography/microscopy. The proceeding features internationally renowned invited presenters from industry and academe.
