This software package is equipped with features for the advanced LSO. Based on the ANSI Z136.1 for Safe Use of Lasers standard, this product will perform repeated calculations of maximum permissible exposure (MPE), optical density (OD), nominal ocular hazard distance (NOHD), nominal hazard zone (NHZ), and laser hazard classification. In addition, the larger screen display (800 x 600) graphically illustrates use of eye protection, shows difference between corneal, retinal, and skin exposure, shows color of the laser and different beam diameters, and shows damage when MPE is exceeded.
Parameters, including optical density can be adjusted individually on the screen, and values of main parameters are posted on the screen. This useful tool will also give you a printed report that uses different evaluation distances for optically aided, unaided viewing, and skin. Also, the downloadable reports include user comments and user-defined laser type, both CW and pulsed values for repetitively pulsed lasers, displays diffuse reflection hazard distances (NHZ) for eye and skin, and the hazard classification.
This program runs under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows XP.
New Features:
- New advanced scroll bars that simultaneously displays power and energy.
- Customizable and restorable default parameters.
- Determines MPE and classification at most hazardous distance from laser, with or without the use of optical viewing aids, even if beyond normal evaluation distances. Determines classification according to the new classification scheme.
- Calculates hazards from viewing aids with custom optics and for diffuse reflections when a lens is used to focus the laser beam. Calculates exposure, MPE, and OD for the eye and skin at standard distances and up to two additional distances. Calculates exposure at various distances, hazards from rectangular and elliptical beams for either a top-hat or Gaussian profile. Calculates hazards from extended sources expressed either as an angle or as a physical size at a location behind or at the laser exit port.
- Displays hazards from custom optics or standard optics, hazards with an external lens if desired, nominal ocular hazard distance (NOHD) with and without optics, nominal hazard zone (NHZ) for ocular or skin diffuse reflections, optical density (OD) for unaided viewing, hazards in terms of radiant exposure per pulse, irradiance, peak irradiance, or pulse group energy when groups of pulses are treated as one pulse and, details of laser classification including average power, peak power energy per pulse.
