LASER WELDING AND JOINING
from the LIA HANDBOOK OF LASER MATERIALS PROCESSING
ISBN # 0-912035-81-1
Editor in Chief: John F. Ready
Associate Editor: Dave F. Farson
This comprehensive handbook contains a wealth of data and easily accessed information on the properties of lasers and materials, components, methodologies, technologies and costs. Three extended
chapters, nine, ten and eleven, are devoted to welding and joining, and it is these chapters as they appear in the handbook that are posted here.

These chapters are self contained and can be used independently of other parts of the handbook. However, readers who are not familiar with laser materials processing may wish to refer to a library
copy of the handbook and peruse topics in the first six chapters (not available online) such as beam delivery systems, optical components, meters and monitors. The theoretical basis for much of the
posted material is contained in chapter 5.
We urge most strongly that readers new to laser materials processing refer to chapter 6, Hazards and Safety.
