Laser Micromachining Company to Host
Inaugural Laser Institute Mid-Atlantic Chapter Meeting
Lanham, MD May 2011: Laser micromachining company, Potomac Photonics, Inc., will host the inaugural meeting of the new Laser Institute of America Mid-Atlantic Chapter on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at 4 p.m. in their Lanham, MD headquarters on the Washington, DC Beltway.
The Technical Program portion of the meeting is titled “Laser Applications in Microelectronics Packaging” and will feature presentations by noted researchers in the field. C. Paul Christensen, Founder of Potomac Photonics, will speak on work conducted under a National Science Foundation Phase II Small Business Innovation Research Grant. A pioneer in laser micromachining applications, Dr Christensen will outline his new approach to fabricating miniaturized wireless sensors.
Alberto Pique will report on his work in Non-lithographic Processing of Conformal Electronics. Dr. Pique is a Research Physicist in the Materials Science and Technology Division at the Naval Research Lab, Washington, D.C. The Technical Program will begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by a tour of Potomac Photonics, Inc. and a reception.

Chapter Criteria
- The chapter must have a minimum of 20 current (paid) LIA members.
- Formation of an organizing committee with designated chairperson.
- No chapter dues required.
- Must meet at least 4 times a year.
- Times and locations at discretion of chapter.
- LIA should be notified and given brief summary of meeting activities for reporting in LIA Today Newsletter.
