The Journal of Laser Applications® is LIA's peer-reviewed journal publishing recent, significant papers aimed at understanding and improving laser technology, applications and safety. Areas of special interest include, but are not limited to: laser materials processing and interaction, laser sensing and measurement, biomedical applications, and laser safety. Emphasis on practical applications is welcomed. Journal of Laser Applications® is published for LIA by the American Institute of Physics.

The cover page of JLA starting with the issue of February 2005 will bear logos of three European laser societies - European Laser Institute (ELI), German Scientific Association (WLT) and Club Laser & Procédés (CLP) - to reflect their joint effort in producing the journal together with the Laser Institute of America. The overarching goal of the global cooperation is to make JLA the most prominent global forum for laser application related research and practice.

A calendar of upcoming courses and conferences is listed, along with discounts on LIA publications, products, and services. This is LIA's only exclusive advertising opportunity - only one ad per issue, placed in the top right corner of the eNewsletter. Distribution includes all people involved in laser technology - from end-users to system builders and nurses to laser physicists.

Electronically submitted files created in the following desktop publishing software: MAC or PC accepted. Quark XPress 3.32+, Photoshop 5.0+, and Adobe Illustrator 8.0+.

(note: if your software is not listed or you require additional information, please contact Jim Naugle at 407-380-1553 x14, e-mail: jnaugle@laserinstitute.org for possible options.)

Hard copy proofs are required. Include all screen and printer fonts and scanned images as eps or tif formats. Files should be supplied by any one of the following: 3.5" diskettes, Zip, CD-ROM, or e-mail a pdf (hi-res) or compressed file. Compressed files should be a maximum size of 5MB.

Camera-ready art
LIA prefers digital files only. Hard copy proofs are required. If art materials received require additional production, the charge will be passed along to the advertiser or its advertising agency.

LIA Advertising Cancellation Policy

For booked campaigns (campaigns for which we have received a signed IO/agreement) ad reservations are subject to cancellation fees according to the following schedule:

  • 30 days or less before publication: 100% cancellation fee
  • 6 months to 31 days before publication: 50% cancellation fee
  • More than 6 months before publication: 25% cancellation fee
